Discover new Valentine's Day Jewelry
Valentine's Day is coming up soon and for B.B. Bellezza that means HEARTS!
I have all new heart jewelry!
The hearts started out as wire. I twist and wrap the wire. After it's formed, I hammered the wire to harden it and help it keep it's shape. Plus it gives the hearts a beautiful texture.
You can find all the designs in my etsy shop.
Available are:
Copper,
Silver plated copper
and Black coated copper.
You can get earrings, pendant or a gift set.
$15 each
Show your love or give a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift! Just let me know if it's a gift and I place it in a gift box, send it to the recipient and add your custom message!
Note: I do note have the black coated or silver plated heart necklaces listed yet, but feel free to contact me to order them.
These are all made to order, so give me a couple of extra days to get your order in the mail.

Blue Vintage Bead Necklace and Earrings Gift Set
I'm so happy to show you my latest eco-friendly jewelry design!
Blue Vintage Necklace and Earrings Gift Set
The blue beads reflect the light so beautifully!
This set was created from a vintage necklace. The necklace was no longer wanted and it was pretty horrible. However, the beads are still gorgeous!
This set is the perfect gift for any woman in your life. It's a beautiful color that any woman would love, and the earrings and necklace compliment each other perfectly.
Plus, the set is gift-ready in an adorable handmade gift box.
The pendant on the necklace is 1 1/2" long. The necklace is 24" long (and can be shortened easily.) I wire wrapped the pendant with silver plated copper wire.
The earrings are 2" long from the top of the earring wires to the bottom of the bead. The earring wires are made with surgical steel wire that's lead and nickel free.
This set is available in my online store for a wonderful price - just $25!
(Note: I have only one set listed, but I have supplies to make a few more. Let me know if you need more than one set.)

Upcycled Red Chandelier Crystal Earrings
I have always been fascinated with beautiful chandeliers. Maybe you, too, love the way the light hits the prisms and sends splashes light all over the room.
Years ago I bought a huge lot of chandelier crystals from a broken chandelier and made tons of beautiful jewelry. I was hooked from then on.
I have never, however, seen red crystals like these.
They are a gorgeous red color.
Do you wear a lot of gray and black (I know I do!)? These are the perfect compliment to go along with them.
Need some beautiful earrings for an upcoming holiday party?
Need the perfect holiday gift?
These Upcycled Red Chandelier Crystal Earrings are for you!
They aren't too heavy - the crystals are small. The entire earring from the top of the hook to the bottom of the crystal is about 2 1/2".
You can see in the top photo how they reflect red light!
They won't agitate your sensitive ears - I use nickel-free surgical steel earrings!
Find them in my etsy shop. Click here to order.

Displaying, Organizing and Caring for Handcrafted Earrings
Earrings are quick and easy to throw on with any outfit.
But how do you care for them?
Display
First let's talk about how to display and/or store your earrings. I know that I have a ton of earrings in different colors, styles and lengths. For a long time they were all in a drawer in my jewelry armoire in a mostly jammed up mess. Then, I made my Canvas Earring Holder. (You can make one, too, if you click on the link!)
There are all kinds of organizers and tools you can use to get your earrings organized.
This is another cute earring holder, although it will only hold 2 pairs of earrings. (You could get a bunch, though!)
Or for dangle earrings only, try putting them on a jar or around a vase on your dresser. You could keep all your earrings in individual plastic baggies in a drawer, if that works for you. You could keep them in plastic tubs or decorative boxes.
Put them in pretty bowls and tea cups organized on your dresser top or in a drawer.
Organizing
Before you display them, though, really organize them. This is what I like to do when my earrings become a big jumbled up mess.
- Dump out your earrings somewhere you can spread out.
- Separate your earrings by color (or by whatever way makes sense for you. Maybe you have different lengths, etc.)
- Pair up the earrings. Find the missing earrings you dropped on the floor.
- Put the earrings on whatever display or storage solution that you are going to use.
Handmade earrings really are artwork and should be treated as such. I joke about my jumbled up draw, but that is really no way to treat handmade earrings! They really should be carefully placed on or in whatever display or storage you are keeping them.
If they start to tarnish, very carefully use a silver polishing cloth to clean them. Since most of my designs have some sort of wire wrapped element, please be very careful when cleaning the wire wrapped aspect of the earrings.
I do not recommend submerging B.B. Bellezza earrings for a variety of reasons. I use vintage and repurposed items. While I do what I can to protect these pieces, submerging them in jewelry cleaner may not be good for all of them. If you use a polishing cloth, you have total control over what is happening. A polishing cloth won't damage stones and beads. A polishing cloth won't remove the protective seal I put over my hardware (or over the little numbers as seen in the above photo). I don't know if dipping it will, but I can't be sure.
For my scrabble tile earrings, I recommend reading this post for learning how to care for them: Caring for Glass Tile Pendants and Scrabble Tile Pendants

My Wedding Jewelry
Since I’m a jewelry designer, one
of the most important aspect of my wedding was my jewelry. In fact, a friend of
mine who didn’t make it to the wedding was saying, I can’t wait to see pictures
of your dress!
I replied, “The dress? Who cares
about the dress? Wait until you see the jewelry!”
I knew what the bracelet would
look like months prior to the wedding. I love designing, making and wearing
bracelets. I also knew what the earrings would look like.
It was the necklace that I wasn’t
sure about. In fact, I designed it as I made it. I changed it. Then I worried
about it.
Somewhere along the way I got the
impression that my husband doesn’t like “gaudy” jewelry. I wouldn’t consider
the necklace gaudy, but it certainly wasn’t dainty jewelry. I don’t know what
his idea of gaudy is either, really.
So, I thought about it and
thought about other, simpler designs.
Then I decided that I was wearing
the necklace I made. This is my wedding, too and I loved my necklace. It made
me feel like beautiful. It made me feel like a bride. I felt like I could take
on the world in that necklace.
By the time the ceremony started
that evening, I needed to feel like I could take on the world.
My husband thought it was
beautiful! And it was!
You hear that woman say they don’t
feel like a bride until they get their dress.
It wasn’t like that for me. I felt more like a bride when I put on the
necklace than I did when I put on my dress.
I’m not sure when I will get to
wear it again, but for now it’s on display on the canvas necklace holder I
made. The necklace holder is perfect for it!
Sometimes, you should just go
with your gut on things like jewelry and not overthink it. Wear what feels good to you and makes you
happy.
Jewelry has such a way of making
you feel more empowered, more beautiful and more put together than anything
else for me.
Ever notice your not so sure
about your outfit, but then you put on a pretty piece of jewelry and you feel
more confident? Do you have a favorite
piece of jewelry that puts you in a good mood?

HISTORY:
First I want to give you just a little bit of my history and information about me and my business.
B.B. Bellezza officially started about 7 years ago, but I have been creating since I was a young child. My mother was very crafty and I grew up attending craft shows with my mom where she sold her goodies. Now I do my own craft shows!
I used to make beaded bracelets on stretchy cord when I was young. I gave it up to pursue other creative endeavors (namely, music in high school and college) until one day I found my bag of beads again and started back up. You can only imagine my delight when I went to the craft store and found such a wonderful variety of beads! (And boy, things have come a long way since then, too!)
My Name:
The history of the name B.B. Bellezza? Bellezza means beauty in Italian. When I started my business I was making Bath and Body products and some jewelry. (I saw jewelry-making more as a hobby at first and was really focused on bath and body. I started on eBay before Etsy was around.) The "B.B." was for bath and body! It stuck and now all these years later people call me "B.B." which is fine!
I'm in the process of changing my name to what will be my name (I'm getting married in a month!!): Kimberlie Kohler. My website will be at my name, too. (It's actually there already, but there is nothing to look at yet!) Please make sure to keep in touch so you know where to find me! (Signing up for my email updates is a great way to stay in touch! Newsletter signup.)
I started out stringing beaded jewelry (and I still LOVE beads!) but now I have moved on to "Altered Art" jewelry.
What is Altered Art anyway?
Altered Art has been defined in many ways and I have come to realize that a lot of art can be considered Altered Art.
A basic definition is that it is made using old items and "altering" them. There really is no wrong way to do it. Quite often new techniques are discovered by accident. It's the transformation of ordinary objects into pieces of art.
My favorite Altered Art, of course, is Altered Art Jewelry. Scrabble tiles, dominoes, Rumikub tiles, bottle caps, etc.! I have had so much fun making Altered Art Jewelry!
Here are some examples:
Scrabble Tile Pendants:
Here are some more of my favorites:
I only have 1 of these!
Alice Chandelier Crystal Pendant Necklace. The image from a vintage book is attached to the back of a vintage chandelier crystal.
I have a variety of the chandelier crystal pendants, each one is one-of-a-kind.
Mixed Hardware Bracelet. Made with a variety of upcycled hardware pieces.
Also I have just one bracelet like this one, although I do have other hardware bracelets.

52 Weeks of Handmade Earrings - Week 10

Tutorial: Canvas Earring Holder
Especially since starting my 52 Weeks of Handmade Earrings project, I have realized I need a better storage solution for my earrings. Up until now, they were just in a drawer, hopefully pairs were close to each other.
Canvas Earring Holder Tutorial
Materials:
- Canvas
- Tissue Paper
- Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Lace or Ribbon
- Hammer
- Nails
- Floral Wire
Step #1
Prepare your canvas. I don’t have photos of what I did because I had already started this for a different project when I had the idea for the earrings holder.
I used a 8” x 10” canvas, though in the future I would use a larger canvas to fit more earrings (I used what I had around.)
To get the effect above, I used tissue paper. I just added a thick layer of Mod Podge to the entire canvas and around the sides.
I crinkled the tissue paper and started placing it on the canvas, wrinkling it and places as I went along. If you happen to rip it, just add more tissue paper. You won’t even notice when you’re done.
{update} I did a video for a Canvas Necklace Holder and showed how I did the tissue paper on the canvas. It's at the beginning of the video.
{update} I did a video for a Canvas Necklace Holder and showed how I did the tissue paper on the canvas. It's at the beginning of the video.
You can see how I went all the way around the canvas edges.
Then let the canvas dry completely.
Once it’s dry, trim any excess tissue paper.
Step #2
I cut out 6 pieces, but ended up only using 5 of them. When designing, consider your earring collection. I have a lot of dangly earrings, so I need more room between rows of earrings.
Step #3
Make sure that your nails are not longer than the thickness of the canvas or they will poke out of the front.
(View from the front.)
Step #4
Continue securing all the ribbon and lace. Trim off the excess ribbon or lace.
Step #5
Hammer in 2 more nails toward the top of the canvas. Don’t hammer them in all the way. This will secure the wire to hang the earring holder.
Step #6
Step #7
Hang up, fill up with earrings and enjoy your organized earrings!!
