Event: This Saturday! City Arts Market

This Saturday, December 1st is the Annual City Arts Market!

It's the 6th annual City Arts Market!  The market house has be newly renovated and there are going to be more vendors, food, a kids' room and raffles.

More than 50 local vendors (including me and my mom) with so many unique handmade items perfect for gift shopping.

You know that everyone on their list has everything they can think - so go with unique gifts this year.  Buy handmade and buy local!

Vendors include:   jewelry (that's me!), pottery cards, handbags, baby stuff, photography, knitted goods, glass and so much more!

Art of Recycle (who happen to be amazing and magical) are hosting the kids room with free activities for all ages.  You can get lunch from the food vendors, and enjoy live music.

If you're used to Eastern Market and it being outside, don't worry, this is inside.  There isn't any heat inside the market, though, so dress in layers.

There is usually no problem finding parking around the neighborhood.

If you have been there before, there are changes, such as it's only 1 day!  So much sure you get there on Saturday.

What I did over the weekend....

This weekend we went to a couple of Lancaster County, PA events that I (somewhat surprisingly) loved!

The photo above was taken at the Construction Rodeo at ABC Construction in Mount Joy, PA. The festival featured all kinds of events with construction equipment. It was fascinating and a lot of fun! The proceeds went to Make a Wish foundation. Definitely check this out next year if you can make it!

We also went to the Pig Iron Festival in Marrietta, PA. We toured the ruins of the furnance that was once part of a booming business. I found the ruins fascinating and the tour interesting. There was an actor at the end who was fabulous!

At the festival there was also a car show, someone demonstrating making knives, and lots of great food! The proceeds for this festival went to help the preservation of the area. They have already done a marvelous job at restoring one building.

It was a fun weekend - even if it was rainy!

More photos on my flickr photoshot of both events.

The Mystery Typewriter and Where I will be this weekend

Typewriter - Smith Corona, originally uploaded by B.B. Bellezza.

Well, the mystery has been solved, actually. And it was sort of just who I would have suspected.

My pal Tony at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER rescued this beauty from the trash. Doesn't look much like a beauty in this photo, does it?

Well, once I popped all of the keys off and cleaned them up, they turned out really nice. Look for some typewriter jewelry in the future! I can't wait to use these keys.

And make sure you check out my salvaging pals at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER!

Which reminds me,

I will be at my booth at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER tonight for Music Friday in downtown Lancaster, PA. (342 North Queen Street)

Trash and Glory + Katie Becker will be performing live starting at 6 pm tonight.

Controversy...

(more photos on my flickr photostream)

Saturday I vended at the Lancaster PrideFest. It was the first one in Lancaster. The people in charge were very organized and set up was very smooth, which was great considering how many vendors were there (a lot!)

We were in the middle of the park and I didn't realize this was going on until my friend showed up, but there were protesters outside all day. The Silent Witness were there to provide a non confrontational barrier between the protesters and the festival and offered escorts to people who might have felt intimidated otherwise.

It was a gorgeous day with wonderful entertainment, great food and I had a great day for sales as well. I sold my favorite bracelet. I actually teared up because the person who bought it was so excited about it.

On Sunday we went to check out a new Sunday market - Building Character. I think that I will probably be doing this market, maybe not every Sunday (Sunday is the only day I get off-sometimes....sometimes I don't even take off Sunday). It was lovely and had great food. You have to try the bbq pulled pork sandwiches! OMG! I am dying for another one right now!

We also went to check out Shupp's Grove Antique Market in Adamstown, PA, which was great....I found some great stuff that will soon be given new life as jewelry!

I have updated my events page on my website. I have all the craft shows for the rest of the year that I plan on attending. Many are listed as pending for the time being because my attendance isn't confirmed as of yet, but I will update as they become confirmed.

Have a great week, everyone! And check in soon for the next entry!

Eastern Market 6-14-08

Eastern Market
June 14, 2008
Here's my stand. I am always astonished how crooked my tableclothes are when I look at the photos. Honestly, I didn't do the tableclothes for this show, my trusty assistants did. By the time I realized it, everything was already on them, and I wasn't starting over again!

New display for this show. It got a lot of attention.

It's sort of difficult to see in this photo, but I have a ton of new HardWire Jewelry. Jewelry made from repurposed hardware and wire. The wire was saved from a big power cord I took apart. It is in all different colors and really cool! I have necklaces and bracelets.

I got a bunch of old decanters at a yard sale recently. At a steal. Honestly. That yard sale was the best yard sale ever. Anyway, I picked up the sherry bottle below specifically for the Edgar Allan Poe Charm Bracelet. (Actually, boyfriend suggested that! He's getting good!)

My pitiful sign is below. I had cooler signs, but they had my bath & body stuff on it, too, which I don't do anymore. I haven't had a chance to make a cooler sign with color photos because my printer has been out of color ink. It's sad, I know. I did make some really cool banners for my tent for this weekend, though, so maybe I can just lose the sign. I really don't know if people pay attention to it or not, but I want to make it clear that everything is handmade, so maybe the sign will stay. I really should come up with a more creative sign, though.

My "new" candy dish that holds my "candy" now. I love it. Plus, you can see a couple other decanters that I got. That is not a lava lamp.....it's a liquor bottle. Awesome, right?
I like to keep super positive and happy, but I wasn't really super happy with how I did Saturday. And, relatively, I did fine. However, it was hot, it was slightly boring and we were tired. But, I had extra time to meet my neighbors and I learned that I need to remember to bring a project to work on, just in case.

This Saturday is the Lancaster Pride Fest in Buchanan Park. It is from 12-6 on Saturday, June 21, 2008. I am very excited to be a part of this first annual festival. I am a little freaked out by all of the rules (well just 2 are freaking me out a little - I have to put a "no smoking" sign on my tent and have a fire extinguisher. Really neither are a big, deal, but I haven't heard of such a thing before.) However, I am really excited because it looks to be a lot of fun.
