Discover new Valentine's Day Jewelry

Valentine's Day is coming up soon and for B.B. Bellezza that means HEARTS!

I have all new heart jewelry!

The hearts started out as wire.  I twist and wrap the wire.  After it's formed, I hammered the wire to harden it and help it keep it's shape.  Plus it gives the hearts a beautiful texture.

You can find all the designs in my etsy shop.

Available are:

Copper,
Silver plated copper
and Black coated copper.

You can get earrings, pendant or a gift set.

$15 each

Show your love or give a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift!  Just let me know if it's a gift and I place it in a gift box, send it to the recipient and add your custom message!

Note:  I do note have the black coated or silver plated heart necklaces listed yet, but feel free to contact me to order them.

These are all made to order, so give me a couple of extra days to get your order in the mail.

Blue Vintage Bead Necklace and Earrings Gift Set

I'm so happy to show you my latest eco-friendly jewelry design!

Blue Vintage Necklace and Earrings Gift Set

The blue beads reflect the light so beautifully!

This set was created from a vintage necklace.  The necklace was no longer wanted and it was pretty horrible.  However, the beads are still gorgeous!

This set is the perfect gift for any woman in your life.  It's a beautiful color that any woman would love, and the earrings and necklace compliment each other perfectly.

Plus, the set is gift-ready in an adorable handmade gift box.

The pendant on the necklace is 1 1/2" long.  The necklace is 24" long (and can be shortened easily.)  I wire wrapped the pendant with silver plated copper wire.

The earrings are 2" long from the top of the earring wires to the bottom of the bead.  The earring wires are made with surgical steel wire that's lead and nickel free.

This set is available in my online store for a wonderful price - just $25!

(Note:  I have only one set listed, but I have supplies to make a few more.  Let me know if you need more than one set.)

My Wedding Jewelry

Since I’m a jewelry designer, one of the most important aspect of my wedding was my jewelry. In fact, a friend of mine who didn’t make it to the wedding was saying, I can’t wait to see pictures of your dress!

I replied, “The dress? Who cares about the dress? Wait until you see the jewelry!”

I knew what the bracelet would look like months prior to the wedding. I love designing, making and wearing bracelets. I also knew what the earrings would look like.

It was the necklace that I wasn’t sure about. In fact, I designed it as I made it. I changed it. Then I worried about it.

Somewhere along the way I got the impression that my husband doesn’t like “gaudy” jewelry. I wouldn’t consider the necklace gaudy, but it certainly wasn’t dainty jewelry. I don’t know what his idea of gaudy is either, really.

So, I thought about it and thought about other, simpler designs.

Then I decided that I was wearing the necklace I made. This is my wedding, too and I loved my necklace. It made me feel like beautiful. It made me feel like a bride. I felt like I could take on the world in that necklace.

By the time the ceremony started that evening, I needed to feel like I could take on the world.

My husband thought it was beautiful! And it was!

You hear that woman say they don’t feel like a bride until they get their dress.  It wasn’t like that for me. I felt more like a bride when I put on the necklace than I did when I put on my dress.

I’m not sure when I will get to wear it again, but for now it’s on display on the canvas necklace holder I made. The necklace holder is perfect for it!

Sometimes, you should just go with your gut on things like jewelry and not overthink it.  Wear what feels good to you and makes you happy.

Jewelry has such a way of making you feel more empowered, more beautiful and more put together than anything else for me.

Ever notice your not so sure about your outfit, but then you put on a pretty piece of jewelry and you feel more confident?  Do you have a favorite piece of jewelry that puts you in a good mood?

Tutorial: Stacked Button Necklace

I recently came into possession of a lot of buttons (to add to my growing collection.)  I love buttons and even though I don't always know exactly what I am going to do with them, if I see a deal on them, I'll buy them!

I have made button necklaces before, but this is the first one like this.  I made earrings in this style previously, which were so cute, too!

Materials and Tools:

  • Buttons ( I used 62.  If you are a smaller stature person, you'll need less)
  • Wire (I used 24 gauge wire)
  • Chain
  • 4 jump rings (I used 3 4mm jump rings and 1 7 mm jump ring)
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nose pliers
  • Needle nose pliers

Step #1
Pick out buttons that want to use.  I used just 2 colors:  purple and gray.  I have a lot of those colors, plus I knew they would match outfits I have.  You can definitely use different colors, more colors, etc.  You'll only see the sides of the buttons, so keep that in mind.

Also the shank type of buttons won't really work for this project.  (See photo below for what I'm talking about.)
Shank button.  Won't work for this project.

Step #2
Cut off about 12 inches of wire.

Step #3

Make a loop on one end of the wire.

Step #4

Start stacking buttons on the one by one, like you would beads.  You could add a bead on each end.

Step #5
Add a loop to the other side of the buttons and trim off the excess wire.

Step #6

Decide how long you want your necklace to be.  Measure how long the button piece you just made is and subtract that from how long you would like your necklace to be.  Cut a piece of chain the length that is left.  Then cut the piece of chain in 2 equal lengths.

Step #7

Open a jump ring (I used a 4 mm jump ring) and add the chain to the button piece.  Repeat on the other side.

Step #8
Add a jump ring to one side, for 1/2 a clasp.  (I used a 7 mm jump ring)

Step #9
Open a jump ring (I used a 4 mm) and add a lobster clasp to the other side.

Step #10
Enjoy your new necklace!

Note:

  1. You can use beading wire instead of silver wire, and then make loops and crimp.
  2. You can use any color buttons, however, shank buttons won't work for this project.
  3. Use any kind of chain you desire, and any clasp you would like!
  4. You can make this necklace as long or as short as you want!  Same goes for how many buttons you use!
  5. If you have questions about how to, or need more instructions on wire wrapping loops, I have a tutorial that teaches that!  Hardware Necklace and Bracelet teaches you basic wire wrapping and you make a couple awesome projects!

New Chandelier Crystal Pendant Necklaces

I am so excited to share my newest pieces!

Crystal Pendant Necklaces

Each pendant is made with an upcycled crystal from a chandelier. The back is flat and I have applied either a part of a page of an old book, part of a postcard, or other image. The pendant is sealed with a glass-like glaze. The pendant was then wire-wrapped with silver plated wire.

The prototype I made to try out has gotten a lot of attention. This is of me wearing my prototype so you have an idea of what it looks like on.

(It's also a photo of me with my new haircut!  I was able to donate my hair!)

The pendant is nearly 3 inches long at its longest point. It's a bit more than 1 1/2" wide at its widest point.

Available now in my etsy shop and they will be at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER by First Friday in August!

How to Upcycle a Chandelier

This is my latest creation!

The focal point of this ring is an upcycled crystal from a chandelier.  The chandelier was damaged and could not be fixed, so I bought the pieces to use in jewelry.

You've no doubt seen my earrings

Necklace

and bracelet

all made from the crystals from the chandelier.

This ring is the latest in the line.  They coordinate to make a nice set, or you can wear them separately.
All the pieces are now available in my Etsy Shop or at my booth at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER. (Rings will be available at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER tomorrow)

Sadly, though, I am coming to the end of my chandelier crystal supply, so there won't be many more of any of these pieces.

What's New?

These are some new items that are listed, or will be listed, in the B.B. Bellezza Etsy Shop:

Made with upcycled ceramic tiles and maps from a vintage atlas.  This set features the United States.

This necklace reminds of a tree or the woods.  I actually love this necklace and considered keeping it for myself; however, I already have so much jewelry!
(Will be listed in my Etsy Shop soon!)
