Discover new Valentine's Day Jewelry

Valentine's Day is coming up soon and for B.B. Bellezza that means HEARTS!

I have all new heart jewelry!

The hearts started out as wire.  I twist and wrap the wire.  After it's formed, I hammered the wire to harden it and help it keep it's shape.  Plus it gives the hearts a beautiful texture.

You can find all the designs in my etsy shop.

Available are:

Copper,
Silver plated copper
and Black coated copper.

You can get earrings, pendant or a gift set.

$15 each

Show your love or give a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift!  Just let me know if it's a gift and I place it in a gift box, send it to the recipient and add your custom message!

Note:  I do note have the black coated or silver plated heart necklaces listed yet, but feel free to contact me to order them.

These are all made to order, so give me a couple of extra days to get your order in the mail.

Blue Vintage Bead Necklace and Earrings Gift Set

I'm so happy to show you my latest eco-friendly jewelry design!

Blue Vintage Necklace and Earrings Gift Set

The blue beads reflect the light so beautifully!

This set was created from a vintage necklace.  The necklace was no longer wanted and it was pretty horrible.  However, the beads are still gorgeous!

This set is the perfect gift for any woman in your life.  It's a beautiful color that any woman would love, and the earrings and necklace compliment each other perfectly.

Plus, the set is gift-ready in an adorable handmade gift box.

The pendant on the necklace is 1 1/2" long.  The necklace is 24" long (and can be shortened easily.)  I wire wrapped the pendant with silver plated copper wire.

The earrings are 2" long from the top of the earring wires to the bottom of the bead.  The earring wires are made with surgical steel wire that's lead and nickel free.

This set is available in my online store for a wonderful price - just $25!

(Note:  I have only one set listed, but I have supplies to make a few more.  Let me know if you need more than one set.)

Upcycled Red Chandelier Crystal Earrings

I have always been fascinated with beautiful chandeliers.  Maybe you, too, love the way the light hits the prisms and sends splashes light all over the room.

Years ago I bought a huge lot of chandelier crystals from a broken chandelier and made tons of beautiful jewelry.  I was hooked from then on.

I have never, however, seen red crystals like these.

They are a gorgeous red color.

Do you wear a lot of gray and black (I know I do!)?  These are the perfect compliment to go along with them.

Need some beautiful earrings for an upcoming holiday party?

Need the perfect holiday gift?

These Upcycled Red Chandelier Crystal Earrings are for you!

They aren't too heavy - the crystals are small.  The entire earring from the top of the hook to the bottom of the crystal is about 2 1/2".

You can see in the top photo how they reflect red light!

They won't agitate your sensitive ears - I use nickel-free surgical steel earrings!

Find them in my etsy shop.  Click here to order.

The Perfect Gift

Choosing the perfect gift can be time-consuming and challenging. I know I worry: Will they like it? The holidays are so stressful: crowded stores, limited parking, selling out of what you wanted to purchase....

I know I out of that cycle. Thoughtful, well-made, meaningful gifts are what I want to give. Gifts I can be proud of giving. Gifts that make the recipient smile with delight. Gifts that are perfectly in alignment with the recipient's tastes and even their values.

If you are looking for the perfect gift for a girl or a woman, jewelry will usually be a great choice.  And handcrafted jewelry almost always is on the top of any woman’s list.

  • My Artwork Pendant Subscription is a gift that keeps giving all year long.  Your recipient will remember you and the beautiful gift you purchased for her every month.  Each month is an opportunity to be in the forefront of her mind.  She’ll remember how generous you are and what a great gift giver you are.

  • Artwork Pendants are wonderful gifts for women who love art. Handmade jewelry + art = win win.

  • Artwork Pendants are perfect for woman who like to have options and decide how they want to wear their jewelry (and what woman doesn’t?)  Artwork Pendants and the chains and cords that go with them are interchangeable with each other and other chains, so she can pick and choose what she wants to wear.

  • Artwork Pendants are perfect for eco-friendly woman.  I use only previously used (but in excellent or like new condition) scrabble tiles to create each pendant.  She’ll be thrilled to wear something so kind to the planet.

  • Artwork Pendants are perfect for young women who are just starting out their jewelry collection.  Each month they’ll get a new pendant and cord.  That will build their collection quickly.

  • Artwork Pendants are perfect for women who like unique jewelry.  You know who I’m talking about.  She always has the most interesting necklaces or earrings that look nothing like what other woman wear.  She’ll love these, too.  She can wear more than one at a time (I reccomend up to 3 pendants at one time) and make a statement.

  • Artwork Pendants come in a cute bag made from renewable resources in the United States.  Ready for gift giving.

Want me to send the subscription directly to the gift recipient?  I would love to!  Just send me an email with what message you would like me to send.  Make sure I have the correct name and address of the recipient.  I’ll send a gift card to the recipient from you!

Ready to get started?  I have 2 options - monthly payments or save 10% by paying for the entire year up front.  Either way, you save the shipping costs.

December’s Artwork Pendant is Cafe Terrace at Night by Vincent Van Gogh and you have to November 26, 2012 to purchase.  After that, this pendant will be discontinued.

8 Tips for Surviving the Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show

The Annual Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show is August 11, 2012 8 am - 4 pm.

It’s called the “Big One” for a reason.  This show is huge!!

I am lucky enough to live in Lititz, so I did the show in chunks last year, with breaks back home in between to rest, but if you aren’t that lucky, a little planning may help you out this year. (And I’ll be selling my handcrafted jewelry this year, so look for me in the 200 block of East Main Street!)

The show covers 2 blocks of Broad Street, the Lititz Springs Park, and 2 blocks of East Main Street.  It’s a lot of ground to cover, so you better be ready!

Tip #1

Download and print the show map so you can plan your attack and keep track of where you are, where you are going and where you have been.

Tip #2

Be prepared.

Pack water, wear comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes in layers.  Even bring a bag you can roll behind you with all your purchases to make it easier. While shopping at big shows my family would take turns running stuff back to the car throughout the day so we didn’t have to carry everything with us.

Tip #3

Attendees arrive early to this show.  The show runs 8 am to 4 pm, so plan to arrive just shortly before 8 am to shop.

Tip #4

There are 2 different areas to park:  1 is walking distance, the other one will shuttle you in.  Find them on the map and decide where to park.

Lititz Craft Show

Tip #5

There are 3 main areas of the craft show (and they are all connected, you won’t miss any of them!):
  • Broad Street
  • Main Street
  • Lititz Springs Park
I would start by going up East Main St., starting at the 200 block (the vendors are on 1 side there), hang a left onto Broad Street and go up one side and back down the other side.  Then continue down Broad Street on one side and back down the other to where the park is.  Then stroll through the park’s vendors.

Lititz Springs Park is a great place to get off your feet if you need to rest a bit.  There are park benches and plenty of ducks to watch!  The spring runs through the park.

Tip #6

Finding food.

There are food vendors all throughout the show. As a Lititz resident, I highly recommend Rosie’s Lunch trailer.  Get a double cheeseburger with everything, and thank me later.  Rosie’s is always on Broad Street, across from Lititz Mutual Insurance.  (And Rosie’s is there every Saturday, in fact.) If you want a sit down experience, try Tomato Pie on Broad Street or head up Broad a little further to the Sandwich Factory.  On E. Main Street you have 2 options for pizza and/or subs, I prefer Ninos.  There’s also the Bull’s Head (I haven’t eaten there, but I hear it’s great.)  On Water Street there is the Appalachian Brewing Company, which is just down from the end of the show.  I would expect there will be lines and long waits for any restaurants.

Tip #7

Now that you’re re-energized with a meal, head back to the vendors that you wanted to take a second look at and make sure you didn’t miss anything!  Or hit the areas you didn’t see yet.

Tip #8

Check out some of the favorite local spots while you’re here: Wilbur Chocolate.  If you’re coming from out of town, do not miss Wilbur!  It is the best chocolate and it’s made right in Lititz.  The chocolate store is at 48 N. Broad Street. Sturgis Pretzels.  You can take a tour and shop for pretzels!  My favorite are the soft pretzels.  Sturgis is located at 219 E. Main Street, right near the beginning of your craft show experience.  (Or head there last, after you’re done shopping!)

Favorite stores to check out in addition to the craft show:
  • Aaron’s Books
  • The Curiosity Shop
  • Zest
  • Candy*ology (for your sugar fix)
  • Or any of the shops on Main Street or Broad Street!
Don’t forget:

Make sure to stop by my booth in the 200 block of East Main Street (Booth D42), near West Church Square.  I have new designs that will be revealed at the show!  Plus, my eBook now in printed booklet form “Jewelry Trends and Being Eco-Friendly.”  Just sign up for my newsletter at the show and you can get your copy for free!

Green Handmade Jewelry - Why It is Important

I write a lot about Recycling and Reusing and living green.  I also write about my green handmade jewelry.

But why?

I make jewelry out of items that could otherwise be discarded because I am worried about the earth.  I think that we are destroying it and I want to do whatever I can to stop it.

I don't think that my little business with it's game tile pendants, hardware jewelry and other funky jewelry is going to save the earth.

However, I think know my customers are going to save the earth.

Step-by-step, one little can, newspaper, plastic bag, whatever it is, at a time.  Everything we do does make a difference.  If I can reach more of you, then more people are thinking about the planet and all the little steps and all those steps of all of us do add up.

What I'm trying to do here is bigger than fashion, or the perfect gift or a memory.  It's bigger than a couple of tips.  I'm calmly and slowly fighting for our planet.  Fighting for the generations that will come after us.  I want them to see trees and butterflies and flowers and know the beauty that I see.  I want them to know what it's like to take a hike in the woods and see a waterfall.

What can you do?

1.  Read my weekly green tips and try doing something new.  Already living green?  Add to the conversation!  Add a comment to this post or any of my Green Tips Posts!

2.  Tell your friends!  Share with them about little steps they can take or share with them what you do.  Be a living example!  Direct them here on Tuesdays for a tip!

3.  Support Green Businesses.  I am one, there are others!  (I'm the proud new owner of the 2012 National Green Pages, so I'll be sure to share other businesses, too!)

4.  Purchase my eco-friendly jewelry!  (More on this below....)

5.  Do your very best every day.  You'll screw up sometimes.  (i.e. I forgot my canvas bag at the store today) but just do your best.

6.  Like green tutorials?  I have moved my tutorials over to my new blog at KimberlieKohler.com  Learn how to reuse all the stuff that is clogging up our waterways and land and don't let it get there.

Using Green Jewelry to Start a Green Conversation

Beyond just saving a game piece or another small object from the landfill, and beyond not using resources to make new materials (both of which I think are important and helpful), wearing my eco-friendly jewelry can help you start a conversation about green issues.  You could give someone information that didn't have before.  You never know how you can affect those around you.  You never know how that person can affect others....and so on.  You could start a whole green team, and not even realize it.

I try to make it easier for you by giving you something to wear to get a conversation started.

Here are 2 sample conversations you can try out.  One if you really do want to get into a conversation about it; one for if you really don’t want to have a whole conversation, but want the jewelry to speak for itself.

Sample Conversations:

She says:  “Hey, girl!  I love that cool pendant you have on!”

You say:  “Thanks so much!  It’s an actual scrabble tile (flip over tile and show her) and the designer recycled it into this cool jewelry.”

She says:  “Wow that is awesome.”

You say:  “I like helping the environment in any way I can.  We keep destroying it at
such a fast rate, every little bit helps.”

She says:  “I didn’t know that you were so eco-friendly.”

You say:  “It only takes a few small steps to make a difference, and it doesn’t feel
like it’s really taking more time or effort than if I weren’t being eco-friendly.”

She says:  “Tell me more.”

Then you can tell her some of the ways you are eco-friendly:  recycling, using a drying
rack instead of a dryer, using recycled paper, etc.

You can also suggest she checks out www.BBBellezza.com for easy tips and
handcrafted green jewelry.  (Thanks!!)

Conversation #2:

If you don’t really want to get into a whole conversation about recycling, try this:

She says:  “Hey, girl!  I love that cool pendant you have on!”

You say:  “Thanks so much!  It’s an actual scrabble tile (tip over and show her) and the designer recycled it into this cool jewelry”

She says:  “Wow, that is awesome.”

You say:  “You should check out her website at www.BBBellezza.com”  (Or, if you are in Lancaster, PA, you can tell her to check out my booth at Building Character.)

She says:  “Thanks, I will.”

Then you have pointed her to my website, where she will find tips for greener living and handcrafted green jewelry.  I'll take it from there.  :)

Plus, you have my unending gratitude.

Little Metal Numbers Jewelry

I recently bought a bunch of little metal number numbers.  They are so adorable that I just couldn't wait to make them into jewelry!

Not every number I received was conducive for jewelry making (although, I am working on a way around it!), but the number 8 is perfect!

So I made a bracelet:

and earrings:

They can be worn as a set or separate (they are for sale separately in my online shop and will soon also be available - along with #4 and #9 - at my booth in Building Character.)

Here is a little more about them:

Metal Number 8 Wire Wrapped Bracelet

I created this unique bracelet using a cute vintage metal number (the number 8). Each black bead is wire wrapped with silver plated copper wire.

The bracelet is 7 1/2" not including the extra links, and 8 1/4" with the extra links. More links can be added if you need it to be longer or I can shorten the bracelet upon request. It closes with a lobster clasp.

The metal number has been sealed to preserve the patina of the metal and guard against any metal allergies.

Purchase for $25 in my shop

Metal Number 8 Wire Wrapped Earrings

I created these unique earrings using cute vintage metal numbers (the number 8). Each black bead is wire wrapped with silver plated copper wire.

The earrings are 1 1/2" long including the earring wires.

The metal number has been sealed to preserve the patina of the metal and guard against any metal allergies.

Purchase for $20 in my shop

Either (or both) would be the perfect gift for a your favorite number cruncher, someone with an anniversary on the 8th, someone who has 8 kids, has been married 8 years, has 8 as a favorite number or anyone who likes cool unique jewelry!

Please let me know if you have questions or are interested in number 4 or number 9.
