What Mom Wants for Mother's Day + Tutorial Sale

Sale and New Year Update

I hope that everyone is ready for a fresh new start and new year.

I have a lot planned for this wonderful new year that I want to tell you about.

Artwork Pendants

First off, as you may know, I have started a new website, ArtworkPendants.com

This website will have just artwork pendants (I previously called them art charms).  I’m working on a whole new line up of pendants and a collector’s card to make collecting them fun and easy!  They are mostly scrabble tile pendants and glass tile pendants that feature art!  Either art from a famous person (Monet, Renoir, Manet, Degas, Van Gogh, etc., etc.) or art from an indie artist (Stephanie Corfee, Iolanda Reinsmith, David Gerbstadt, Lauren Startzman, etc.)

If you want to continue to hear about Artwork Pendants, head over and sign up for the newsletter.  The website is currently under major construction.  If you sign up, I’ll let you know when it’s up and running and send you the collector’s card free when it’s ready!

Tutorials

I have also been very hard at work on a new tutorial and will be ramping up both my tutorials for sale and free tutorials on my blog! 

I get so many questions about how to sell on etsy, eBay and lots of other questions about online sales and marketing that I have decided to write a course for the beginner!  I’ll give out more details as they are available, but make sure to get on the email list for tutorials so you know when it’s coming!

Payments

There have been a lot of questions regarding payments on etsy lately.  It’s been confusing for a lot of people, so if you have been confused, you are definitely not alone!

In order to pay via credit card, you have to chose “pay via paypal.”  You can then either use your paypal account if you have one - OR - put in a credit card without a paypal account.  (You do not have to have a paypal account nor do you have to sign up for one).

Snowed In?

Tonight is First Friday in downtown Lancaster, PA. But, we're supposed to get a foot or more of snow. I don't know if I will be making to my stand there tonight or not - I am waiting to see when the snow starts before making a final decision.

However, if I don't make it in, I am going to have a fun Snowed-In Sale tonight in my Etsy Shop starting at 6 pm. I'll let you know how this plays out and what the sale is then.

That also means that those people who are email subscribers and fans on my facebook fanpage may not be able to get their discount in person tonight. However, if I'm not there....I will be offering free U.S. shipping and the same deal in my Etsy shop, plus some more fun!

Amethyst Earrings

I love these chunky amethyst earrings, which are in my Etsy Shop!

I actually am really liking this photo, too. Just a year ago I got my new camera and that has made such an incredible difference! I can't even believe the photos I used to have. Horrible.

I can still use a lot of work on the photos, but I think I am getting better and better. (For example, this photo would be better without the light reflection!)

I think the main things that have helped me photograph my jewelry more effectively are:

1. Macro setting on my camera!!
2. More megapixels. (honestly I had like 1 megapixel on my old camera!)
3. I made a really simple handmade light box. You can do this for next to nothing with stuff you have around the house. Really, you can.
4. Stopped using the flash an got daylight light bulbs. Most people will tell you to take photos in natural light. While I completely agree with them, my schedule does not allow for this most of the time.

I am not going to dig out an old photo for you to compare, but I guess if you were really curious, you could probably find one if you looked hard enough.

More Buttons!

I have added more button jewelry to the shop. I actually have a couple more pieces to go. I am loving how adorable the jewelry is and lightweight. I need more buttons!

The bracelet above is full of buttons. All of these buttons were saved from their trip to the landfill....some of them I believe were saved from clothing. (I live in Pennsylvania Dutch country, so we have a strong German heritage.) There are earrings to match this also in my shop. (I can make a pendant or charm necklace to match, too, if you desire one.)

I will be adding more jewelry this evening and/or tomorrow to my shop.

Remember, December 1st is Cyber Monday and I will be running a sale! (I don't want to spill the beans yet!) Already there is free shipping to everywheree, which will continue at least for Cyber Monday.
