Custom Pendant Idea: Family Reunions

When I think about summer, one thing I think about is family reunions!  


Food & Family, what could be better?


How about if you get custom pendants made for the family to remember the reunion this year?  


You could do a cute pendant like above with your name, the year and a photo of the location of the reunion.


How about a shot of the entire family from last year - or take a photo this year and send out the pendants out at Christmastime as great presents.

I make it easy.  Just contact me with your ideas - or better yet photo(s).  I can make a custom image like the one at the top of this post, or just use a photo.

Don't worry, you'll get to see any custom images before I make the pendant.  If I have any issues with your photos and how they will turn out - I'll let you know right away.

Current turnaround time is about 2 weeks from the time we agree on the photo or image.

Caring for Glass Tile Pendants and Scrabble Tile Pendants

Pendants are my top selling item!  With good reason, too.  They are fun, cute and you can wear a bunch at a time!  They are affordable so you can keep your collection going.

But how do you keep your pendants looking great?

The best way to keep your pendants looking great is to take really good care of them to begin with. Treat them like artwork, because they are!

Tips to keep them looking great:
#1  Never ever wear them in water.  Take them off before you shower, jump in the pool or relax in the hot tub.  They are water resistant, but they won’t fare well submerged.

#2  I send your pendant purchase along in a plastic baggie if you order online, and they usually come in a little plastic bag if you buy them from me in person, too.  Save the bag and store your pendant in it.  It keeps it safe and secure and away from oxygen, which will tarnish the bail.

Cleaning:

Glass Tile Pendants

Spray glass cleaner on a cloth or paper towel and carefully wipe the front of the glass.  You can gently use a silver polishing cloth on the bail.  (Note, I do not recommend cleaning the back of the pendant.

Scrabble Tile Pendants

Gently wipe off the front with a lightly moistened paper towel or cloth.  (VERY lightly moistened and be very gentle.)  You can gently use a silver polishing cloth on the bail.

Some scenarios that may come up:

Q:  I jumped in the pool with my pendant and now it’s ruined., what can I do.?
A:  See #1 above, never ever wear your pendant in the water.  Most likely, I’ll have to make you a new one!

Q:  The back is all dirty on my pendant, what can I do?
A:  If it is a glass tile pendant, ,most likely nothing, but if it’s the back, then it doesn’t show anyway, right?  

If it is a Scrabble Tile Pendant, you can very carefully clean it with some wood cleaner.  Never spray directly on the pendant, but on a cloth that you use on the pendant.

Q:  My bail is tarnished, what can I do?
A:  Use a silver polishing cloth to gently clean it and then keep it in a plastic bag when you’re not wearing it to deter tarnish.

Q:  What should I do if my bail falls off?
A:  I have actually never had this happen, but if it does, just give me the pendant and bail back and I’ll put it back together again.

Q:  I wear this thing constantly and the paper is coming up a little, what should I do?
A:  I will repair it if you get it back to me.  Also see #1 and #2 above to make sure this doesn't happen!

Road Tripping

I love road trips!  I love the adventure, sometimes you don't know where you're going, even if you do know, you might get lost.  (My hubby hates GPSs.)  You never know what little gem of a town you're going to find or what interesting roadside wonder you might find.

On our way back from our honeymoon, we took Route 6 for a little while.  It's a great road with lots of small towns and nature.  I did a little research when we got back and it turns out you can travel across the United States on Route 6.

It's probably no surprise that I want to do that...."Do 6."

It's probably also no surprise that I have had a longtime goal to "get my kicks on Route 66", either.

Recently, I had a custom order for the Route 66 pendants, and it has inspired me to add them to my line.

Colonial Theatre Fundraiser Art Pendants

I'm so happy to present Colonial Theatre Pendants!  There are Glass Tile Pendants (above) available for $25, or Scrabble Tile Pendants (below) for $15.

This pendant was made with a wonderful photo of the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, PA at night. This is the famous theatre featured in the "run out" scene in the cult classic movie "The Blob."

The photography for this pendant was supplied by the theatre and we are sharing the proceeds of each pendant. With each pendant you purchase, you are supporting a piece of history.

- The glass tile pendants are 7/8" square. The photograph is preserved under a smooth glass tile.

- The scrabble tile pendants are .75" x .82"
- Pendants are water resistant, but not waterproof. Do not submerge them in water – take them off before you jump in the pool, hot tub or shower.

They are both available in my etsy shop, and remember, 1/2 of the sale goes to the Colonial Theatre!

Scrabble Tile Pendant

B.B. Bellezza pendants make wonderful, personalized gifts.  Your gift recipient can wear more than one at the same time and they are all interchangeable with the cords and chains I offer.

Scrabble Tile pendants (see the pendant with the photo of Centralia Tree above) are .75" x .82" and are made on an actual scrabble tile from the Scrabble game.  The image is applied to what is actually the back of the game piece and a silver plated bail is attached to the side with the letter.  You can partially see the letter on the back.  (Custom letter selection is sometimes available, but not always depending upon my supply of tiles at the time.)

They have a glass-like glaze preserving the image.

Glass tile pendants (see the pendant with the couple above) are approximately 7/8" x 7/8".  The image is preserved under the smooth glass tile.  A silver plated bail is attached.

CARE:  The pendants are water resistant, but not waterproof.  Do not wear them in the shower, pool or hot tub.  Make sure to remove if you're near a pool in the presence of your bratty little brother.  (He will throw you in....)

Ideas for personalization:

1.  Any photo:  photos of kids, a loved one, favorite vacation location, photo of something sentimental, a favorite tree, etc.

What I need:  Send me a photo via email in digital form (preferably a .jpeg) and I'll resize it into a pendant.

2.  Custom initials or name up to 3 letters.

What I need:  Send me the name or the initials (or just a letter.)  Tell me their favorite color(s) and I'll create a pendant with initials and a cool background.

Here's an example with my name.  It has a register in the background because I work with numbers in my day job and some cute flowers.  This is just an example, but the possibilities are endless.

TIPS:

The less busy the background, the better the pendant will turn out.  These pendants are small, so of course the photos will be small.

I may have to crop the photo or resize the photo to get it to fit.  If there is something important about the photo that I might not realize (a/k/a something important in the background that I might cut out when cropping), please point it out.

If you are ordering a glass tile pendant, I also have rectangle glass tiles (about 2"x 1").  If I find that the rectangle will work better for your image, I'll let you know.

LEAD TIME:

Approximately 2 weeks.  If you have a rush order, I can try, but I will still need at least 4 days to make your pendant.  

Shipping price includes first class mail, but I can upgrade if you're in more of a rush.

TO GET STARTED: 

Email me with your ideas or photos.  I'll let you know if how long it will be and your total.  If you are not sending me a photo (i.e. option #2 above) I'll work up a design and email it to you for your approval.  After that, I'll send you an invoice for total payment via paypal.  You'll get the invoice in your email with instructions.  After I receive your payment, I'll start working on your pendant.  The time I quote is starting fromt he time your payment is received.

If you are in the Lancaster, PA area, you have the option to pick up your pendant at BUiLDiNG CHARACTER in downtown Lancaster.  I can't get there everyday, though, so I will let you know when I can have your purchase there.  (Make sure to let me know prior to paying so I don't charge you shipping.)

Connor's Artwork

I had the great pleasure to meet the most lovely woman at Eastern Market a little while back.  She told me that friend's of hers had lost their young son, Connor.  He loved unicycles and he painted these awesome pictures of them.  Could I make pendants with his artwork?

Of course!

I'm honored to be able to preserve his artwork and give the people who loved him a way to keep him with them.  His artwork is stunning, as well.

I recently had the honor of making some of these pendants to be auctioned off for a scholarship fund in his name.

I'm also thrilled that the family has entrusted me to continue to make these so that they may be available on an ongoing basis to benefit his scholarship fund.

New Handmade Jewelry

It has been a while, but I have a lot of new things to add to my Etsy Shop.  (Mainly because of the windy day that caused me to leave my craft show this weekend....)

These "Bubble Rings" are one of my new items.  They are made with small (1/2" ish to 3/4" ish) glass pebbles with an image under on an adjustable ring.

Also, made with the same glass pebbles, I have listed these cute and dainty pendants.

The above pendant, has already sold!

 

These word pendants can be customized to any word - up to 5 letters long.  

The word is typed on my vintage manual typewriter.

New Collaboration Art Pendants with Stephanie Corfee

You may have noticed in my Etsy Shop, Art Pendants that are a collaboration with my friend Stephanie Corfee. Now, we have even more!

I am a huge fan of her whimsical art. I have a print of hers hanging in my studio that gets me through every day, which tells me that "Today is the Day." (Also available as an Art Pendant.)
