My Blog is Carbon Neutral

A few weeks ago, I received an email from someone working for an initiative called "Make it green!"   Their goal is to reduce carbon footprints by raising awareness of the severe environmental damage caused by carbon emissions

A blog with 15,000 visits a month has a yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 8lb. To neutralize these emissions they created "My blog is carbon neutral" buttons so bloggers can demonstrate that they care about the environment and the carbon footprint of their blogs.  So, I write this blog, they plant a tree and now I'm carbon neutral here on my blog!

The trees are being planted in the Plumas National Forest in Northern California, where so many wildfires have destroyed the trees.

If you would like to join me in making your blog carbon neutral and having a tree planted, you can find out the information to participate on this website

(The company doing this is a Germany based company called kaufDA, which provides advertisement brochures of local stores online to help consumers search for specific products and find good deals in their neighborhood. This reduces the amount of brochures printed and so the project helps the environment by reducing unnecessary paper in mailboxes. An American on average receives 41 pounds of junk mail per year. This has the same carbon footprint as burning six gallons of gasoline.)

52 Weeks of Blogging Your Passion

I love the beginning of the year and the feeling of everything being new, but this year I am not making New Year Resolutions. Instead, I am trying to start a few new things (not resolutions, just trying out stuff...) and really focusing on making B.B. Bellezza as good as I can one step at a time.

One thing I am currently working on is my blog and feeling more of a connection to the blog community.

Sometimes I wonder what to write for my blog, or feel like I need to pull something out of thin air. So, when I saw Tara Gentile of Scoutie Girl had written 52 Weeks of Blogging Your Passion, I knew I had to get it.

It seems it's written just for me, too. (Probably for you, too!) I have read through the entire book, and it's great. It is well-written, easy-to-follow and gives you a very organized approach to writing blog posts. (which is what I really need!) What I love most is that Tara gives weekly prompts to help you shape your blog posts.

I highly recommend it for any artist, crafter or designer blogger out there who wants to get their thoughts out there and share their work.

Post Number 500!!

Wow!!!
I can't believe I have made it to 500 blog posts!

This is cause to celebrate, right?
So, I am going to give away some Scrabble Tile Pendants! (Not necessarily the one photographed; it will be a random selection).

To enter:

Just leave a comment here on my blog telling what your favorite thing on my blog has been. (If you are reading this on facebook, I'll enter you if you leave a comment on this note on facebook, too, or you can come to my blog to comment, but please comment about my blog.)

I will randomly choose a winner in the morning on Wednesday, September 16th, (my 501st post!).

If I receive more than 15 comments, I will giveaway 1 pendant per 15 comments. (So, if I receive 45 comments combined from facebook and my blog, I will randomly select 3 winners)

New Blog

(photo is from a trip to New Hope, PA)
My boyfriend Jim and I just started a new blog (and soon to follow zine):

There's an introductory post over there and I would love if you would all check it out. Right now it is very basic, but it will soon be filled with lots of photos and content about places to travel and ways to travel on a budget.

Most of our trips and what we will be writing about will be in Pennsylvania and Maryland, basically places you can easily get to from Lancaster, PA; however, we will be throwing in tips about how to take road trips inexpensively and how to find cool places, so it will have value even if you don't plan to come to Pennsylvania.

Thanks for checking it out and we will be posting more to it soon!

Back again....

Well, it has been quite a while since the last post. I have been reading some really beautiful blogs and wondering how do they make their blogs so beautiful and professional and lovely? I scarcely know what I am doing. But, I must try! I WILL be part of this lovely blogging community.

I have also been in a sort of hibernating, relaxing, reloading phase since Christmas. It is now time to get out of that funk and start back up with all the fun of my shop. I have been making some cool stuff - all for myself! I will let you in on some of this stuff soon.

Some news and how to now find me. You can now find me exclusively on Etsy. I have given up eBay at least for now. http://bbbellezza.etsy.com
Right now there are very few things listed in my shop. This shall be changing. I plan on updating sometime in the near future with some lovely jewelry at really inexpensive prices and of course my nurturing bath and body products. You must nurture yourself in this cold horrible wintertime. And you know you really should nurture your loved ones, too!

My plans for this blog will include really beautiful photographs as I am inspired by other bloggers, but alas, today will not be the day for this. This is just my trial blog to get me back into the swing of things again.
